Cognitive Vacation by Train

This is a 20-day combined tour, thanks to which you will get to know the most important and interesting things from the Sri Lankan past and present, but you will also have the opportunity to relax on the shores of the Indian Ocean or with an iced drink by the pool. Traveling by train will usually take place in 1st class waggon, which are air-conditioned and have a greater comfort than on airplanes. Only on side routes we will travel 2nd class waggon (there is also 3rd class). In places where there is no possibility of transport by train, we will move minibuses.

Tour program:

1. day - departure from home airport

2. day - arrival in Colombo, accommodation, city tour

3. day - departure by train to Jaffna, accommodation, city tour

4. day - tour of Jaffna area by minibus, visit to Hindu temple Nallur Kandasvamy, boat trip to Nainativu island with Nagapooshani Amman Kovil temple, visit to Karaitiv island with Fort Hammenhiel, Keerimalai sacred spring and the northernmost place in Sri Lanka - Point Pedro

5. day - departure by train to the island of Mannar, accommodation, city tour

6. day - boat ride around the islands, the so-called Adam's Bridge, a tour of the island

7. day - departure by train to Anuradhapura, accommodation, afternoon tour of the first capital of Sri Lanka with the oldest documented tree in the world

8. day - departure by train to Polonnaruwa, accommodation, tour of the excavations of the former royal city and palaces

9. day - departure by minibus to Sigiriya, visit to the most famous place in Sri Lanka, afternoon visit to the rock temples in Dambulla, accommodation.

10. day - departure by public bus to Matale, visit to the rock temples of Aluvihara and the Hindu temple Muthumariamman, departure by train to Kandy, accommodation, visit to the temple of the Buddha's Tooth, city tour.

11. day - departure by train to Ella on one of the most beautiful tracks in the world, including the nine-arched Nine Arch Bridge, in the afternoon ascent to the so-called Little Adam's Mountain, accommodation in Haputal

12. day - a trip through tea plantations to the so-called Lipton Seat (1990 m above sea level), a visit to the oldest tea factory in Sri Lanka, an afternoon minibus visit to Ravanna Ella waterfalls and Buduruvagala temple with a group of 7 10th century Buddha statues, transfer to resort accommodation Ladja Beach

13. day - stay in a modern seaside resort, swimming in the sea and pool

14. day - swimming in the sea and pool

15. day - swimming in the sea and pool, Sri Lankan cuisine course

16. day - swimming in the sea and pool

17. day - swimming in the sea and pool

18. day - river safari on the river Walawé

19. day - swimming in the sea and pool

20. day - departure by train to the airport, departure 

The price of the tour is 1350 Euro per person (minimum 4 persons).

The price includes:

• - all traffic in Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka has 1540 km of railways, we travel 1070 km, ie 70% of all lines)
